2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Statistics Week

The 2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Statistics Week (APES2018) features a seminar, the seventh meeting of the Steering Group for the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics and a project support meeting.

The seminar is designed within the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics for Asia and the Pacific, under the theme of closing the gaps in economic statistics for sustainable development. A variety of sessions will add perspectives on the theme. The organization of the seminar is supported by a Task Force working under the Steering Group and comprising India, Indonesia, Malaysia (chair), New Zealand, Turkey, UNSD and ESCAP.

The seminar will take place from 7 to 9 May and will feature papers authored by experts and practitioners from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, aligned with one of the following topics:

Topic 1: Inclusive economic statistics for informed decision-making;

Topic 2: Use of modern technologies and new data sources for production and dissemination of economic statistics;

Topic 3: Communication and use of economic statistics in decision-making
