SBR Resource Materials

Some of the most relevant guidelines and manuals for SBR are:

This is a set of international guidelines and recommendations of good practices on SBRs to help countries in developing and maintaining their SBRs. These guidelines target developed as well as developing statistical systems and address issues concerned with the traditional core role of business registers, response burden, use of administrative sources and the role of business registers in streamlining the statistical production. The Guidelines have been prepared by the Task Force on Guidelines on Statistical Business Registers under UNECE and were approved by the Conference of European Statisticians at its sixty-third session in June 2015.

The "Regional Course on Statistical Business Registers: Making a Business Case for an Operational Statistical Business Register" was organized by SIAP in cooperation with the the Department of Statistics Malaysia during 26 – 30 January 2015 in Perak, Malaysia. The course website provides a wide set of SBR training materials.

The European Union BR Regulation sets out a common framework for the harmonization of national registers, but the practical implications are not always clear, partly because the Regulation is the outcome of complex negotiations. This Manual aims to explain the reasoning behind the provisions of the Regulation. It aims to provide the extra information required for the correct and consistent interpretation of the Regulation in all countries. It is very much focused on the harmonization of SBRs among EU member states.

This Group is an international expert group under the umbrella of the UN Statistical Commission engaged in further development of business registers, survey frames and associated topics. The group provides a forum for the exchange of views and experiences and the conduct of joint work related to the development, maintenance and use of business registers. The Group meets every two years and the last meeting was in September 2014 in Vienna.
