2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Statistics Week

The 2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Statistics Week (APES2018) features a seminar, the seventh meeting of the Steering Group for the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics and a project support meeting.

The seminar is designed within the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics for Asia and the Pacific, under the theme of closing the gaps in economic statistics for sustainable development. A variety of sessions will add perspectives on the theme Closing the gaps in economic statistics for sustainable development. The organization of the seminar is supported by a Task Force working under the Steering Group and comprising India, Indonesia, Malaysia (chair), New Zealand, Turkey, UNSD and ESCAP.

The seminar will take place from 7 to 9 May and will feature papers authored by experts and practitioners from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Presentaions will be organized in sessions on the following topics:

  • Big data
  • Modern technologies for production of economic statistics
  • Administrative data
  • System of National Accounts (SNA)
  • Communication and use of economic statistics.  
  • Ocean statistics(special session)
